Ideal learning should students not only be used as learning objects who are ready to receive input from the teacher, but also be given the opportunity to seek their own information through learning media, be able to explore their knowledge and thoughts and be able to work together to form a solid team in problem solving. This ideal condition was found in the group investigation learning model. This research is a classroom action research conducted in the fourth grade of SDN 4 Kutosari, Kebumen Regency, Central Java. Data collection techniques used tests, observations, and interviews which were then analyzed interactively according to the Milles & Huberman scheme. Technique and source triangulation was carried out to test the validity of the data. The results showed that the group investigation learning model was able to improve students' academic competence in social science subjects. This shows that the group investigation learning model succeeded in developing the ability to participate and the ability of students 'curiosity because they were presented with problems to solve themselves so that they could train students' independent learning.
